Generations are mixing more and more in the workplace. Baby boomers, Generation X, millennials and now Generation Z are working side by side. Each generation brings its own unique experiences, values and work styles to the workplace. This can lead to mutual enrichment, but also to misunderstandings and conflicts.

Typical characteristics and preferences of generations include:

Babyboomer (1946 - 1964): are characterised by high loyalty to the company and respect for authority. They value hard work and diligence, and place a premium on following rules and hierarchy. They are less comfortable with technology and prefer traditional ways of working.

Generation X (1965 - 1980): are characterised by independence and a pragmatic approach to life. work-life balance is important to them. Their strengths are adaptability to change and openness to new technologies.

Mileniálové (1981 - 1996): are characterised by technical proficiency and an innovative approach to work. They prefer flexible working hours and working from home. They value meaningful work and social responsibility and expect prompt feedback and recognition.

Generace Z (1997 - 2012): This generation, born into the digital world, is characterised by excellent adaptability and openness to change. They value authenticity and inclusion and look for meaning at work and the opportunity to actively participate in the company.

  • Different work habits: Baby boomers emphasise adherence to rules and hierarchy, Generation X values independence and efficiency, and millennials prefer flexibility and collaboration. Generation Z emphasises speed and results.
  • Different values and priorities: Baby boomers focus on stability and career growth, Gen Xers on work-life balance, millennials on meaningful work and social impact. Generation Z focuses on authenticity, inclusion and meaningful work with impact.
